#CindySays Recommendation: The Missing

I was looking for something to watch that was suitable for fighting (and losing to) a sore throat on a rainy, gray day.

After bouncing around, I landed on STARZ and The Missing, Season 2. Different yet every bit as good as the first, this story has an intricate and interwoven plot that bounces back and forth in time.

Set in Germany, within the British military community, a missing girl stumbled back into town after over a decade. But all is not well, and her return pulls on the thread of a older mystery involving members of the regiment.

Seasons 1 and 2 are each a contained story. The continuity stems from the holdover character of Detective Baptiste, who specializes in searches for missing children. Now retired, he steps in to investigate as a previous case of his may be linked to the found girl.

What I love about the mysteries that come to us from over the pond is that there is no second guessing. Clues are doled out like delicious treats, and you know, only when you’re supposed to know.
I’m on Ep 7 of 8, and this dark and a bit bleak mystery is speeding toward a satisfying conclusion.
