TV Season 2015 – Television Premieres for the week of September 20th

Football fans got their kick off a couple of weeks ago… now it is time for the TV lovers!

Week of 9-20 highlights

The new TV season begins now!!!    Here is information on the TV shows making their début this week.


Monday – 9/21:  Debuting shows

Life in Pieces (CBS) – What it’s about… Family life is just a serious of awkward moments, as evidenced by the separate vignettes from each subset of family members.

  • What’s the big deal?  The cast is led by Dianne Wiest and James Brolin
  • Watch this if you like:  Non traditional, quirky family based comedy such as Modern Family, blackish

Minority Report (FOX)  What it’s about… 10 years after the end of Precrime in Washington DC, one of the three PreCogs attempts to lead a normal life while still plagued by visions of the future. Can he keep it together without getting involved, or is there something he can do to stop it?

  • What’s the big deal?  Based on the Philip K. Dick short story, this is a continuation of the Spielberg film made in 2002.
  • Watch this if you like: Futuristic crime dramas and/or beat the clock mysteries such as Sleepy Hollow, Person of Interest

Blindspot (NBS) – What it’s about…  A Jane Doe is found in Times Square with no memory and mysterious tattoos on her body. The FBI gets involved and begins investigating.

  • What’s the big deal?  Looks like action plus mystery plus beat the clock.  Plus it’s got Sully Stapleton, and starts off with a naked girl.
  • Watch this if you like:  Action packed crime dramas, FBI shows like The Blacklist

Returning shows:  The Voice, Gotham, The Big Bang Theory, Scorpion, Castle, NCIS: Los Angeles


Tuesday – 9/22:  Debuting shows

The Muppets (ABC)  –  What it’s about…  The Muppets return to prime-time with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time, a series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires.

  • What’s the big deal?  Last seen in a variety style format, The Muppets are back!
  • Watch this if you like: Well, er, The Muppets!

Scream Queens (FOX) – What it’s about…  After a 1995 sorority pledge gone wrong, someone is out for vengeance when a college campus is rattled by a series of murders at the twentieth anniversary of the crime.

  • What’s the big deal?  This is brought to you by the team that created Nip/Tuck, Glee and American Horror Story.  Plus, it’s got Jamie Leigh Curtis and quite a few Glee alums.
  • Watch this if you like:  Any of the above shows.  It’s a modern whodunit and a blend of comedy, horror and mystery

Limitless (CBS) – What it’s about…  A man gains the ability to use the full extent of his brain’s capabilities. A television adaptation of the 2011 film, ‘Limitless’, with the story taking place after the events shown in the movie.

  • What’s the big deal?  It’s got Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Carpenter and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio
  • Watch this if you like:  The movie Limitless.

Returning shows:  The Voice, NCIS, Fresh Off the Boat, NCIS: New Orléans


Wednesday – 9/23:  Debuting showsWednesday is a big night for returning shows.  There’s only one show debuting this week.

Rosewood  (FOX) – What it’s about… Private Miami pathologist, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr., finds secrets in people’s bodies using his state-of-the-art laboratory equipment.

  • What’s the big deal?  Stars Morris Chestnut. Need we say more?
  • Watch this if you like:  Comedy dramas with hot scientists like CSI.

Returning shows: Survivor, Mysteries of Laura, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Empire, Modern Family, Law & Order: SVU, blackish, Nashville


Thursday – 9/24:  Debuting shows

Heroes Reborn (NBC) – What it’s about… Heroes Reborn is an upcoming 13-episode “event miniseries” as a continuation of the NBC science fiction serial drama series Heroes.

  • What’s the big deal?  This is an opportunity to reboot the series. Not sure if this is a stunt, test marketing, or purely a way to round out the series and offer it the ending that it deserves. Creator Tim Kring will return as executive producer, but don’t expect all the originals.
  • Watch this if you like:  You guessed it… the original show Heroes.

The Player (NBC) – What it’s about… A former intelligence officer working as a security expert in Las Vegas, Alex Kane, is drawn into a group of wealthy gamblers. Running a high-stakes game of life and death, pit boss Mr. Johnson enlists Kane to race against the clock to stop unthinkable crimes.

  • What’s the big deal?  From the production team of The Blacklist, this stars Philip Winchester and Wesley Snipes
  • Watch this if you like:  Action based, beat the clock episodic thrillers like The Blacklist.

Returning shows:  Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder.


That’s it!  No new shows début on Friday or Saturday of this week.

Friday – 9/25 – Returning shows:  Last Man Standing, The Amazing Race, Shark Tank, Hawaii Five-O, Blue Bloods

Saturday – 9/26 – Returning shows: 48 Hours
